To me, this is the coolest idea out there... but I'm a nerd. Specifically, an art nerd.
The Art House Co-op has been doing this thing for a few years called The Sketchbook Project and they describe it as "A concert tour for sketchbooks." I accept the fact that I will never be some famous artist (at least not until I'm dead... ;-) but it's pretty exciting to think about people, STRANGERS, looking at my art. And this is that kind of opportunity. The idea is, you pay money, you receive a sketchbook. You fill it up, send it back in, and it goes on a tour where people can "check out your book" without leaving the premises, of course, and they can look at your artwork. Like I said, nerdy. To some, that probably seems extremely lame, but I think it would be SO fun to go to Chicago and find my book there. Another cool thing is that it has a barcode and every time it is scanned for someone to "check it out," I can receive updates... which is just a cool feeling to know somebody took interest in it! After the tour is over, it lives in the Brooklyn library.

So... here is the catch. Sign ups for the 2012 tour have been going on for a couple months... and I still haven't turned in MY 2011 BOOK!! Yeah....
I'm not trying to say I have a busier life than anyone else out there, but I do know things that I really love and have a passion for tend to get put on the backburner for, well... life. Two kids under 2 and a husband that doesn't get to sit in one spot longer than 4 minutes keeps me busy. The deadline to turn in the 2011 book was oh, back in January? I'm tempted just to send it with the few pages left empty... I think there are 9 pages left. But somewhere in me feels the NEED to finish it. But who knows when that'll happen. It's time to buckle down.....
p.s. The theme I'd chosen for 2011 was called "Jackets, Blankets, and Sheets"....
Well... Wish me luck!
